Children's Mental Health Access ActWhat does the legislation do? Includes children and adolescents in an existing Medicaid waiver option that is focused primarily on the aged, elderly and disabled populations. The waiver for those populations can be utilized to provide them with in-home and community-based services as opposed to their equivalent out-of-home placement. Bottom line: It provides states with an avenue to avoid the institutionalization of children and youth. For the full description download the file to the right. Social Services Block Grant at risk of Elimination
On Wednesday April 18, the House Ways and Means Committee acted on their part of a budget reconciliation bill. The Committee decided to find savings in the federal budget by completely eliminating the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG).
